I watched a movie in class it is Coach Carter. This is true story.I want to
recommend to you this movie. Have you watched this movie? I think this is not
very famous but the story is very good. This is story about students and Carter
who is a teacher of basketball in Richmond high school. The students are not
good at study and basketball. They did not have good teacher but Carter changes
them.
The
club of basketball in Richmond high school is not strong. Some student who did
drug and there are who don't have parents. They don't take classes in
seriously. But Carter is very strict to them. Carter's methods is teach to not
only basketball but also follow a rules. If students defy a Carter or break the
rules Carter give hard penalty to student. He and them make a contract. The
Contract is that attend at all class and sit down before the first, take the
results of an average of 2.3 and wear a tie on the day of the game. This is
very strict I think but this is Carter's method and he don't think about only
winning the games. He teach yo them education. It is
"Student-athlete" it's doing both, in this case study and
basketball. This is the point of this movie. I proud of him as a teacher.
One of
a student there are a man name of Cruz. He doing drug but in fact he did not
want to do it but he thought of that friend as an important because they are
like family. He had feeling something but he quite basketball. Carter is always
ask to him " What is your deepest fear young man?" but Cruz didi not
answer and his friend shot and killed in front of him. He realized if quite
basketball there becomes nothing and Finally he answered at Carter's question.
That is very impressed me. It is "Our deepest fear is not that we are
inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It's our light
not our darkness that frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the
world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking to that other people won't
feel insecure around you. We were all meant to shine as children do. It's not
just some of us it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine. We
unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated
from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others". I thought he was change. And after they went on winning but they lost in a state meeting and was not able to champion but they did it without giving up. Carter said to them " Oh well, now, not quite your story book ending hah? Not for us anyway. But you men played like champions, you never gave up, and champions hold their heads high. What your achieved goes way beyond the win loss column or what's gona be written on the front pages of the sport's section tomorrow. You've achieved is that ever elusive victory with win-in, and gentlemen I am so proud of you. Four month ago when I took the job at Richmond High, I teach boys and you become men, and for that I thank you". He is strict to them all the time but then he praised them for the first time. That two scene was very good.
